On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, travel technology company ParkMundo announced €2.3 million in seed funding, its first outside money after more than a decade of bootstrapped growth. The company runs an airport parking marketplace for travelers and a business-to-business platform that lets travel brands sell parking inside their own booking flows.
What happened
According to Tech.eu, the round came from a group of angel investors with technology and travel experience, plus additional financing from Rabobank. Before this round, ParkMundo was self-funded and profitable.
The company's story started small. Jeroen van den Eerenbeemt founded it in 2013 under the name Vliegen en Parkeren, which is Dutch for "fly and park," as an airport parking comparison website. Martijn Meeuws joined shortly afterward and is now co-founder and CEO.
Today ParkMundo has two sides to its business:
- A consumer marketplace that connects travelers with airport parking providers.
- A B2B offering that lets airlines, online travel agencies and other travel brands add airport parking to their booking process through APIs and partner integrations.
The company says it uses AI to optimize parking prices for its partners. It reports more than 850 partners in 15 countries, operations across four continents and millions of airport parking bookings handled so far.
The funding follows a rebuild of ParkMundo's technology, a rebrand and new B2B distribution features. The company plans to use the money to keep developing its technology, expand internationally and grow both the consumer marketplace and the B2B platform through more partnerships with travel providers.
"For years, airport parking has been one of the last major travel products operating through fragmented local systems," Meeuws said, according to Tech.eu. He added that the company's goal is "to become the global infrastructure connecting parking operators with travellers."
Why it matters
Airport parking is a classic marketplace opportunity. On one side are many small and mid-sized parking operators, each with its own booking system. On the other are millions of travelers who want a simple way to compare and book. When supply is that scattered, a platform that brings it together can become very valuable.
ParkMundo's move into B2B distribution is also worth noticing. Instead of only attracting travelers to its own site, it is putting its inventory inside other companies' booking flows. That is how many marketplaces grow beyond their own audience: they become the infrastructure behind other brands.
And the timeline matters. ParkMundo spent more than 10 years growing on its own revenue before taking outside money. That gave the founders time to prove the business works and to raise on their own terms.
The size of the round is modest by startup standards, but that is part of the lesson. A business that already makes money does not need a huge check to grow. It needs enough fuel to speed up what is already working, which is exactly what ParkMundo says it will do with this funding.
What this means for founders and builders
There are a few practical takeaways from this story:
- Fragmented markets are opportunities. If an industry still runs on scattered local systems, a marketplace that brings it together can win.
- Profit first is a real strategy. You do not need venture capital to build a durable business. Revenue gives you options and leverage.
- Think about distribution early. APIs and partner integrations can put your product in front of far more customers than your own website can.
If you want to run a marketplace without spending years building one, our acquisitions page lists complete platforms ready to launch. One example is HostGhost, a fully built marketplace that connects artists with ghostwriters. If you have your own marketplace idea, a custom build can bring it to life.
The bottom line
ParkMundo grew a profitable airport parking marketplace on its own for more than a decade, and it is now using its first outside funding to become the parking layer behind other travel brands. It is a strong example of how patient, profitable growth and smart distribution can build a lasting marketplace.
