Procuros Raises €20 Million to Let AI Agents Run B2B Trade

Hamburg startup Procuros raised a €20 million Series A led by XAnge to build the data layer that lets retailers, suppliers and AI agents trade automatically.

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, Hamburg-based software company Procuros announced a €20 million Series A funding round to build what it calls the infrastructure for "autonomous B2B trade." The round was led by Paris- and Berlin-based venture firm XAnge, according to Tech.eu and EU-Startups.

What happened

Procuros connects retailers, suppliers and distributors so they can exchange orders, invoices and shipping data automatically. Instead of building a separate connection to every trading partner, a business connects to Procuros once and can then trade data with many partners through one shared layer, no matter what software each side uses.

New investor W23 Global joined the round alongside returning backers Point Nine, Creandum, b2venture and SquareOne, plus angel investors, according to Retail Technology Innovation Hub. EU-Startups reported that W23 is backed by five large grocery retailers.

The company says more than 300 businesses use its platform and that more than €3 billion in yearly order volume flows through it. Customers named in the announcement include German fashion retailer Breuninger, food wholesaler Chefs Culinar, snack brand KoRo, online beauty retailer flaconi, The Quality Group (ESN) and Hitschler. Procuros was founded by CEO Patrick Thelen and Benjamin Bradford.

"AI is advancing at incredible speed, while supply chains still run on infrastructure built decades ago," Thelen said. He added that the company's infrastructure "gives retailers, suppliers and AI agents the connectivity and trusted data they need to automate trade and make autonomous supply chains possible."

Procuros plans to use the money to grow its sales and marketing, expand internationally, including into the U.S., and build more AI-powered automation for trading networks.

Why it matters

Business-to-business trade is huge, but much of it still runs on old technology. Many companies exchange orders using decades-old data standards, emails, spreadsheets and even manual re-typing. Every new supplier or retail partner can mean weeks of setup work.

AI agents could take over a lot of that work, such as placing reorders, checking invoices against deliveries and flagging problems. But agents can only act on clean, reliable data. If a purchase order arrives in the wrong format, an agent will get it wrong just like a person would. Procuros is betting that whoever controls the trusted data layer between trading partners will become essential as automation grows.

It is also a classic network business. Every new retailer that joins makes the platform more useful for every supplier, and the other way around.

The investor list hints at this, too. When a fund backed by grocery retailers joins a round, it suggests that the buyers at the end of the supply chain see value in a shared, standard way to trade data with their suppliers.

What this means for founders and builders

Procuros shows the power of a "connect once, reach many" model. Marketplaces and platforms grow in value as more people join each side. That network effect is one of the strongest moats a software business can have.

There are opportunities here for smaller builders, too. Many industries still run on email, phone calls and spreadsheets between buyers and sellers. A focused platform that connects two sides of a niche market, whether that is local suppliers and restaurants or artists and producers, can become the default place to do business.

KIING DIGITAL LABS builds two-sided platforms like this. Our HostGhost marketplace, which connects artists with ghostwriters, is one example listed on our Acquisitions page. If you have a marketplace idea for your own industry, a custom build can get you a finished platform without starting from scratch.

The bottom line

Procuros' €20 million Series A is a bet that AI will automate B2B trade, but only for companies with clean, connected data. The startup wants to be the layer that makes that possible. For founders, it is a reminder that connecting two sides of a market, and making their data work together, is one of the most valuable things software can do.
